Byrne Stoneware Slip

Byrne Stoneware SlipByrne Stoneware SlipByrne's Stoneware Slip gives the ceramist true stoneware within the firing range of electric kilns. It is fired to a very hard and durable stoneware - midway between earthenware and porcelain. When fired to a cone 6 - it is vitreous - hence able to hold water without glazing. Byrne's Stoneware Slip has a wide firing range and may be taken as high as a cone 10.

Stoneware, because of its extreme hardness, will not chip or scratch easily. Hence, it is excellent for your outdoor pieces: fountains, planters, patio ornaments; as well as your indoor finished pieces: dinnerware, vases, mugs, ovenware, teapots, etc.

Stoneware is usually poured a little heavier than earthenware slip. This adds to it durability. It usually shrinks about 8 to 10 percent.
