Potter's Choice - Shino

Potter's Choice - ShinoPotter's Choice - ShinoThe origin of the name "shino" is uncertain. It may refer to the potter with whom it was originally associated or to the white color of the glaze. This lead-free, cone 6 produces the fiery oranges of the flashing that occurs in traditional shinos. Shino needs to be applied irregularly. Apply 2 irregular coats. Once you have used it awhile you will see the effects that you can get by varying the application.

With a matte cream base you will happen upon blushes of dark brown, rust, and mustard. Salt Buff has to be applied on the thin side. No more than two irregular coats are needed to get the random effect of salt glazing.

Potter's Choice - True CeladonPotter's Choice - True CeladonCeladon is the general name given to a colour range of subtle greens to stormy blue-gray. This lead-free cone 6 glaze creates a slightly transparent jade tone that looks best when used over white clays.


Potter's Choice - Temmoku

Potter's Choice - TemmokuPotter's Choice - TemmokuTemmoku is a name given to any high temperature stoneware or porcelain glaze that is extremely high in iron oxide content, in fact, saturated with it. During the firing the excess iron oxide migrates to the surface of the glaze where it collects into spots of pure metallic iron. While this lead-free cone 6 glaze is not a traditional temmoku, it produces the same lusterous affets.
